Professional Background

Kristen Rademacher has been an educator for thirty-five years, including over two decades as an academic coach at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has coached thousands of college students, most with diagnoses of ADHD and other learning differences. Kristen has also coached high school students, graduate students, and professionals, with and without ADHD.

While at UNC, Kristen played a key role in shaping and growing the academic coaching model used by many staff and faculty on campus today. She also co-designed and co-led a popular training program attended by professionals inside and outside of UNC.

Kristen co-authored the first book on the topic geared to professionals in higher education: Academic Coaching: Coaching College Students for Success.

Prior to coaching college students, Kristen was a classroom teacher at the elementary school levels in Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Beliefs About Students

All students have areas of competency, are creative, and are capable of growth

Academic setbacks are normal, unavoidable, and often lead to sustainable change

Students’ self-understanding, experiences, and goals are respected and invaluable to the coaching process

Why Private Coaching?

While some schools offer coaching (or similar) services, it is often difficult for the available staff to meet the demand and needs of the student body.

For some students seeking coaching at school, they cannot always access the one-on-one assistance they want, nor can they work with the same coach regularly.

Many students therefore prefer the reliable and consistent support a private coach can offer.
